in the frame work of Gil & Moti's project "Home at TENT.", which was part of the annual event "the world of Witte deWith" in Rotterdam, we creadted 'space invaders'- a site specific work consisting of three elements, to be displayed in the private living room of a private person (specific person). This work is part of our growing interest in what we call 'time and space travel'; situations in which we throw ourselves into a time & space scenarios different from our own, re-invent them, re- interpret them, change the course of things, based mainly on our imagination and fantasies, in relation to whatever subtext we would like to propose in a specific context, and subjected to our own personal interest in it.
for this work, we contacted Raffaele, who was going to host our work. we asked him to tell us about a place in Rotterdam which carries a special meaning to him. after some thinking he sent us to the old GEB building, where he spent some good years as a student (the building serves as students acommodation) together with some of his best friends.
we visited the GEB tower, which was built in 1931 as a skyscraper and considered the highest in europe at the time. the builsing was build as the offices of the electricity company, and only later was transformed to students' residncies.
the work we made for Raffaele's apartment relates both to his stories about the place and our imidiate impressions from the visit.
